Phil's Flying Enterprises, Inc. offers a number of online aviation
courses. These courses are offered online and are taught by an aviation
professor, but at a small fraction of what you would pay to take
an equivalent course at any university.
Private Pilot Ground School
This course is the foundational course for future pilots. In this
course you will learn everything you need to know in order to become
a licensed Private Pilot. FAA knowledge test questions are discussed
in this course. Some major topics include: basic aerodynamics, rating
requirements, regulations, flight manuevers, weather, weather charts,
navigation, and flight planning. Private

Instrument Rating Ground School
This course is for pilots wanting to take their flying to the next
level and increases the usefulness of their license by allowing
flight in less than perfect weather. Instrument rated pilots are
also considerably safer than their visual-only counterparts. This
course will cover advanced weather, weather charts, instrument approaches,
instrument charts, and instrument flight planning.
Commercial Pilot Ground School
This course covers the additional material one needs to know in
order to earn a commercial pilot certificate and become a paid aviator.
In addition to regulations, this course will review information
from the Private Pilot ground school and cover advanced aircraft
systems.
Instructor Ground School
This course covers the material for the FAA Fundamentals of Instruction
and CFI Knowledge tests. This course would be ideal for anyone wanting
to become a flight instructor and/or ground instructor.
Instrument Instructor Ground School
This course is a review of instrument flight and also covers additional
responsibilities and regulations pertinent to instrument flight
instructors. This course will prepare you for the FAA Instrument
Flight Instructor and/or Instrument Ground Instructor test(s).
Pilot Short Courses
Owner Pilot Preventive Maintenance Course
This course will discuss the basics of legally performing maintenance
on personal aircraft as a Private Pilot or better. All tasks that
may be performed are covered. Instruction and logging requirements
are provided. The instructor will also point students toward appropriate
resources required for their particular aircraft.
Avionics for Pilots
This is an introduction to avionics for pilots. After finishing
this course you will have a better understanding of how the modern
avionics in your aircraft work.
How to Buy a Plane
This course will familiarize you on the process of buying an airplane.
The process is described and caveats are presented.
Instrument Pilot Refresher
This course is intended as a refresher for the instrument pilot.
The Garmin 430 and 530
This course will help you learn more about the Garmin 400 and 500
series GPS/NAV/COM units. After completing this course you will
know how to use your Garmin unit to the fullest.
Transitioning to the Garmin G1000
This course will help you make the transition to the new Garmin
G1000 glass cockpit environment.
